The Wonderful World of Disney...

Believe it or not, Mickey Mouse is almost 90 years old! The brainchild of genius animator Walt Disney, Mickey made his first appearance in the short film “Steamboat Willie” in 1928. Since then, he’s become the very symbol of the Disney empire and perhaps the most famous animated character of all time.

In 1937, Disney released Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which was the world’s first full-length animated movie. It proved such a success with both children and adults around the world that Disney followed it up with other classics such as Pinocchio, Fantasia, Bambi, Cinderella, and Lady and the Tramp. Not surprisingly, Disney received nearly two dozen Academy Awards!

Even after Disney’s death in 1966, his studios continued his legacy – and today’s children still love Disney’s movies: Toy Story, Pirates of the Caribbean, Finding Nemo, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King … and, of course, the most popular Disney film of all time, Frozen Is there a child anywhere in America who doesn’t know all the words to “Let It Go”?

The Greatest Tribute to Disney: COINS!

It’s often said that you haven’t really made it in the world unless you’ve been featured on stamps and coins. If that’s the case, Disney has made it many times over!

Commemorative stamps and coins are official government tributes that often take years of planning. For example, the U.S. Postal Service issued a series of stamps featuring Disney characters from 2004 to 2008, and in 2016 the New Zealand Mint led a revolutionary new era in Disney coins by striking stunning commemoratives – including colorized editions – featuring characters from Frozen - Queen Elsa and Princess Anna, there’s a series of Disney princesses (Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Pocahontas, Mulan, Merida, Rapunzel, Tiana, and Aurora) and coins featuring Mickey Mouse and his friends.

Because these are official colorized commemorative coins, they are being made in limited editions in 2016. They are perfect gifts for every Frozen fan (i.e. every child in America!) and every fan of Disney’s most famous characters.
