WWII – MacArthur’s Return to the Philippines

74 years ago on October 20, 1944, General Douglas MacArthur made a dramatic and triumphant return to the Philippines after being forced to leave by the Japanese invasion in March 1942. MacArthur’s return was one of the defining moments in World War II, and it did not take long afterwards for the U.S. to liberate the Philippines, take control of the Pacific, and defeat the Japanese to bring the war to an end.

Today, we can look back with pride and honor to MacArthur’s achievements and to the brave military personnel who fought for our freedom. It is also a great time to own some genuine U.S. coins and banknotes that are historical artifacts dating to the World War II era.

WWII Historic 23-Piece Coin, Note, & Stamp World Collection
– SAVE $10!

This stunning, comprehensive collection includes U.S. coins and stamps from the World War II era – highlighted by the “emergency” one-time-only 1943 steel Lincoln Penny and 1942-1945 35% silver Jefferson Nickel. You will also receive German World War II coins, German “Hitler Head” stamps, Japanese “Invasion” notes that were intended to replace bank notes in nations occupied in the Pacific, and so much more. A fascinating and historic collection that spans the world and traces the history of World War II.

    WWII Winston Churchill Collection.

Winston Churchill was a legendary figure in world history. The British Prime Minister during World War II, he was a loyal American ally and an inspiring leader both during and after the war. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. Following his death in 1965, the British Royal Mint honored Churchill with a commemorative Crown, the largest and most prestigious British coin. This was the first time a “commoner” had ever appeared on an official British coin. The genuine £1 (One Pound) note was issued for use by the British Armed Forces overseas in the aftermath of World War II.

WWII Emergency Bank Note – Hawaii Brown Seal.

During World War II, the United States issued emergency $1 Silver Certificates for use only in Hawaii and U.S. territories in the Pacific. These scarce and unusual notes are identified by the unique brown Treasury seal (instead of the usual blue seal) and the overprinted “Hawaii” on both sides. They were issued only from July 1942 to October 1944. Had they fallen into Japanese hands, they would have been demonetized and therefore made worthless. Fortunately, that never happened … but very few of these fascinating $1 bills survived the war.

Pearl Harbor Coin Collection and Japanese Invasion Note.

This remarkable collection brings together historic World War II U.S. coins and a Japanese “Invasion Note” that was intended to be used in place of U.S. currency following a successful Japanese invasion of the U.S. – but fortunately it was never needed. The coins include a standard 1941 Jefferson Nickel, a 1942 Nickel made in 35% silver, the 1943 Steel Penny, and the 1944 Penny that was made with recycled copper from used shell cases gathered from battleships and battlefields.

Raising the Flag – Iwo Jima Collection – SAVE 20%!

One of the most famous depictions of the U.S. flag is the historic moment it was raised by Marines on Iwo Jima in World War II – an event that changed the course of the war in the Pacific and that symbolizes the power of freedom and democracy. The image was used on a U.S. stamp in 1945 and on the 2005 commemorative silver dollar honoring the Marines … and now, both the stamp and the coin are included along with actual sand from Iwo Jima in a magnificent framed collection. A great gift for anyone who loves our flag!

Complete WWII Nickel Collection – SAVE $10!

Nickel was needed for guns, tanks, and other essential military supplies in World War II – so the U.S. Mint reduced its use of nickel for coins to free it up for the war effort. Instead of nickel, the U.S. Mint struck nickels in 35% silver during the war from 1942 to 1945 – and the complete collection of World War II Nickels is an exceptional collector’s item that has a unique link to the war. What’s more, these are the only silver nickels in history, and each coin bears the large mint mark on the back to identify it as silver.

These are the key coins to any collection, and both are presented in an amazing set that sure to excite even the most seasoned of collectors. The coin was designed by Charles E. Barber – one of the most legendary designers in U.S. Mint history – and both coins were made in 90% silver.
        Double Dated Pennies – 1909
On rare occasions, the U.S. Mint ends one coin design in the same year that its replacement design is introduced. This famously happened in 1909, when the last Indian Head Penny was struck … and it was replaced by the first Lincoln Penny later in the year. Since both coins were made for only a few months, they are almost impossible to find today, over 100 years later.
Double Dated Set – Pennies, Nickels, Dimes
This incredible collection includes not just one set of matching first-and-last coins made in the same year … but three stunning sets of first-and-last coins: the last Indian Head Penny and first Lincoln Penny that both bear the same 1909 date … the last Buffalo Nickel and first Jefferson Nickel, both dated 1938 … and the last Barber Dime and first Mercury Dime that were both struck in 90% silver in 1916.
The Last Standing Liberty/First Washington Silver Quarters
The short-lived Standing Liberty Quarter was last made in 1930 … and two years later in 1932 the U.S. Mint introduced the Washington Quarter to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the birth of George Washington. These coins were made in 90% silver and have been out of issue for over 85 years, but this incredible set includes both historic coins!
        Double Dated Nickels – 1938
The classic Buffalo Nickel is one of America’s favorite coins, but the last coin was made 80 years ago in 1938. That same year, the U.S. Mint struck the first Jefferson Nickel – but this new coin was not released until October, so each 1938 coin was available for just a few months. This is a rare opportunity to own both coins in a single collection!
Last Morgan & First Peace Silver Dollars
The stunning Morgan Silver Dollar was last made almost a century ago in 1921 – and this exceptional collection features this key final-year coin with its replacement, the Peace Silver Dollar from 1922, the first full year of issue. This is a fabulous set of the “bookend” coins that any collector would be proud to own. Both coins were made in 90% silver.
