The Kennedy Half Dollar was first issued shortly after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963. It was first released in 1964, so it has been issued for more than 60 years. The coins also span six different decades, from the 1960’s to the 2010’s.  Today, the Kennedy Half Dollar is America’s most beloved coin.  The obverse is a portrait of Kennedy; the reverse is the Presidential Coat of Arms.

This collection includes one historic Kennedy Half Dollar from each of the six decades of issue: 1960’s to 2010’s.

The first coin is a 1965-1969 40% silver Kennedy Half Dollar. This is the only 40% silver coin ever made for circulation, as well as the last silver U.S. coin made for circulation.

The 1970’s coin is the one-time-only 1976 coin that was issued to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The reverse shows Independence Hall in Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776. This was the first commemorative Half Dollar issued for circulation.

The 2000’s coin was issued in a limited edition and was made available only to collectors – it is not found in circulation.

The final coin is the 2010-2019 Kennedy Half Dollar that was also not issued for circulation.

The collection is presented in a protective coin wallet and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and informative narrative about Kennedy and the coin designs.
